The main project of my life
There are more than 200 paintings out of 1000. That’s why ”1000 Sunflowers” is the main project of my life.
Here are collected all my impressions, emotions and worries. Sunflowers are a symbol of the sun, and the sun is life. The life of sunflowers, just like all living things, has its own natural cycle – from birth to death and so on in a circle. When I look at this flower, I see the universe, because every detail is created by God according to the golden ratio.

Ukrainian Period
I began to paint sunflowers in 2008, but the idea to create a big series was born during COVID-19 when I immersed myself in painting the sunflower field close to our summer house. I have created 33 paintings in this field during the summer. After that, I showed these paintings at the Zaporozhian Art Museum on my solo show and understood this is my way to I can tell my stories to people, share thinking and opinions. In 2021, when I discussed with the art curator, I joked and said, “I would like to paint 1000 sunflowers”. Now, this idea helps me not give up, keep going, and be true to myself.

Premonition of war
The war… I didn’t believe that it was possible in the 21st century. But sometimes, I do not trust my intuition; I just want to believe in kindness. But… I think everyone felt this; everyone was the same as me. I felt threat to every cell of my body and put my anxiety on canvas.
Sunflowers in Polish Period
At the beginning of March, my daughter and I were evacuated to Poland. On the 3-d day at the refugee camp, I started to continue my sunflowers project. It was like the connection with reality, which was dissolving around. But thanks to my friend’s support, I didn’t stop with my art. I fought with everyday fear and tried to paint paintings of hope, emotions, and the whole me.
