"1000 sunflowers"
There are more than 150 paintings out of 1000. That’s why ”1000 Sunflowers” is the main project of my life.
Here are collected all my impressions, emotions and worries. Sunflowers are a symbol of the sun, and the sun is life. The life of sunflowers, just like all living things, has its own natural cycle – from birth to death and so on in a circle. When I look at this flower, I see the universe, because every detail is created by God according to the golden ratio.
For me, sunflowers are freedom of creativity, I allow myself everything – to change the color, to break the rules, to give free rein to emotions. And that’s why the real me is in this motif.
American period
Stunning views, fabulous plants and birds, amazing architecture, endless expanses of the ocean delight me every day. You know, it’s strange, but it was here that I learned to admire. I feel this is a landmark period in my work.
I have a workshop where new canvases for new emotions are constantly waiting for me. A big thank you to California writer Connie Terwilliger, that inspires me to believe in myself and be successful.
If the Polish period was filled with special green and love in every brushstroke, then the American period differs more in the emotional component of admiration for everything that surrounds me. The unusual composition of the air of California makes the colors more saturated, and the sky is unusually blue.
Polish period
I wanted to show wonderful greens and the beauty of Poland’s landscapes. Magic forests, beautiful flowers, Polish pottery and European architecture left a mark on my soul. In Poland I was able to relax and fill up. When I painted, I put a lot of love into every brushstroke. Every brushstroke is the love of life… My goal was to create pictures of happiness.
I took my mind off the fear of war and showed the real beauty around, keenly feeling every moment. During 7 month in Poland, I created more than 100 paintings. The organizer of the plein air in Lancut Jan Majczak, the Wozniak family and the American school in Warsaw were of great help in creating these paintings.
All paintings of this period of creativity are filled with special beauty and are already in private collections.
Ukrainian period
The main feature of the paintings painted in Ukraine is sincerity and desire to live. The color may be inconspicuous, but I think in my artworks it is more golden and earthy shades. All paintings are sensitive and not tied to any criteria. I think that this diversity is the whole point of Ukrainian art.
I am inspired by life, its cyclicality and the change of seasons. The smell of fallen leaves and fresh snow on wet boots draws New Year’s Eve fuss in my memory. The gnashing of grasshoppers on perennial grasses in the rays of the departing sun brings me back to my childhood.
Ukrainians, by their centuries-old tradition, are connected with the land. Our land is special – sticky, as if bright black clay, mixed with oil, magical, airy extraordinary.
